Mangaluru: Mangaluru City women police station personnel arrested a 53-year-old woman who had allegedly been evading arrest and court proceedings for nearly 15 years in a case registered under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act.The accused, identified as Sefiya, a resident of Moodubidire taluk, was wanted in a case registered in 2011 by the Mangaluru City women’s police station under Sections 3(2)(a), 5(1)(d) and 7 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act.The case was taken up for trial before the Third JMFC Court in Mangaluru as Split CC No. 2/2014, and was later listed as a long-pending case under LPC No. 10/2019.City police commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy CH said several warrants had been issued against the accused, who failed to appear before the court. At the time of the case, she had allegedly concealed her identity and provided false details, identifying herself as Ayesha,36, and a resident of Banglagudda in Gurupura.Police later sent her fingerprints to the fingerprint unit in Mangaluru for examination. The fingerprints were reportedly found to match those available in the records, confirming her identity as Sefiya.Following the verification, women police station personnel traced and arrested her on Tuesday, and produced her before the court. She was subsequently remanded in judicial custody.
