Chandigarh: Former Punjab BJP president Sunil Jakhar on Wednesday said he would approach PM Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah, seeking adequate staff for the CBI to complete the Punjab and Haryana high court-ordered probe into alleged corruption linked to the Punjab CM’s office.“We too have grudges against the CBI. I fully agree with them (AAP leadership). This all started when CBI arrested DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar on Oct 16. There was another raid at Punjab Vigilance Bureau HQ in May this year. My grudge is that things have not reached to logical conclusions after being started. Many CBI officers meet and tell me they are short of staff.“He said he would request the home minister to provide adequate staff to the CBI to “separate wheat from the chaff”.Jakhar said while the court had given a two-month deadline to the CBI, he would want that CBI be provided with adequate staff to complete the probe within a month.Hitting back at governing AAP for targeting BJP over CBI raids, Jakhar said now it was the court which directed the CBI to conduct the probe.Jakhar claimed, “The central agencies had repeatedly given the AAP govt opportunities to investigate corruption cases itself, but in protecting his henchmen, the CM had brought the heat of the fire to his own doorstep. Had the Punjab Police and Vigilance Bureau conducted impartial investigations, the CM would not have had to face this situation.”Jakhar also alleged, “The plunder of Punjab’s treasury had multiplied since AAP’s defeat in Delhi and the subsequent takeover of the Punjab govt by leaders left without office there.”He further alleged that “Cabinet meetings during this period were being held at a particular bungalow instead of the Secretariat.”
