Varanasi: Claiming they were being stopped by police from marching to Murshidabad all the way from cities in UP and Bihar on Tuesday, Vishwa Hindu Raksha Parishad activists said, despite all hurdles, they would reach their destination on Wednesday. Police, however, denied trying to stop anyone associated with any organisation.VHRP chief Gopal Rai, who halted here after leaving Delhi on Monday, said his organisation had no objection to building of mosque, but it should not be built in the name of emperor Babar so as not to hurt sentiments of Hindus.Claiming that around 5,000 VHRP activists from different parts of the country already reached West Bengal, Rai said that on Tuesday, his office-bearers were stopped by police in Lucknow, Gorakhpur and other districts of UP and Bihar from marching forward on the pretext of law and order. “But, despite all these hurdles, VHRP office-bearers and activists will enter WB in strength of 10,000,” he added.Rai claimed if WB police barred them from reaching Murshidabad, they would continue protest and even move Supreme Court if need be, as they wanted to stop building of a mosque in the name of a Mughal ruler who oppressed Hindus and that the creation of mosque in name of Babar would widen rift between Hindus and Muslims.
