Patna: Wild boar attacks triggered fresh panic among residents of flood-hit Danapur diara on Saturday with two people attacked in separate incidents. An eight-year-old girl was killed after a wild boar entered a house in Hetanpur village, while a 40-year-old man sustained injuries in Panapur village. The attacks came a day after three people, including a girl and her mother, were injured in another wild boar attack in Old Panapur. The first incident occurred in Hetanpur around 8am when a wild boar, apparently carried into the area by the strong flow of floodwater, entered the house of late Chhedi Rai and attacked his granddaughter Radha Kumari, daughter of Daudpur resident Sanjay Rai.Radha had been staying at her maternal home in Hetanpur with her mother Panpati Devi, three sisters and a brother for Rakshabandhan. She could not return to Daudpur because of the floods.Family members and villagers rushed to rescue her and took her towards Danapur by boat, but the boat broke down on the way. Former village head Kanhai Rai later reached the spot with an SDRF team and helped shift Radha to Danapur Sub-Divisional Hospital, where doctors declared her dead. The second attack took place in Panapur, where Sunil Kumar, 40, was attacked while going to feed his cattle after relieving himself in the morning. A wild boar emerging from the floodwaters charged at him and inflicted serious injuries to his thigh and chest before fleeing as residents reached the spot. Sunil was taken for treatment.Residents said the attacks had continued for the second consecutive day. On Friday, a wild boar attacked a girl, her mother Sunita Devi and a young man in Old Panapur, leaving them injured. The attacks have added to the difficulties of residents already struggling with the floods. Large parts of the Diara area remain inundated, while the presence of snakes and insects has also increased.Sub-divisional magistrate Virupaksha Vikram Singh expressed condolences to Radha’s family and assured them of all possible assistance. “The girl died at the hospital. She suffered deep gashes in her abdomen in the attack. The SDRF team went to the spot for the rescue, but unfortunately she died,” he told TOI.
