New Delhi: Congress on Monday asked why Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami and BJP were not sacking, but protecting, minister for women empowerment and child welfare Rekha Arya, after her husband publicly accused her of possessing illegal assets worth ₹210 crore.
Congress alleged that Arya’s continuation as a minister and the appointment of BJP leader Dushyant Gautam as the governor of Sikkim despite his name being linked to the Ankita Bhandari murder case were examples of moral compromises by the ruling establishment in the poll-bound state.
“Minister Rekha Arya has been accused of corruption by her husband. But there is no action against her. Why hasn’t she been removed from her position? Why exactly is CM Pushkar Singh Dhami protecting her? Is there any involvement of the CM in the corruption case? The truth is that the Dhami government is completely mired in corruption,” AICC general secretary in-charge of Uttarakhand Kumari Selja said at a press briefing.
