Nagpur: A bitter tussle between two gangsters over a woman ended on a bloody note on Thursday with the one of them succumbing to stab wounds, hours after he gatecrashed into a booze party, where his heartthrob was closeted with his rival.The body of the goon, Gaurav Ragde, 27, was found in a pool of blood near Narendra Nagar underpass at Sundarban after he was killed by his love rival, Gaurav Raut following a deadly clash on the street.The duo argued, grappled and punched each other for nearly 30 minutes, before Raut snatched a knife from under Ragde’s belt and stabbed him multiple times. The chase and fight began in Ajni before ending in Beltarodi police limits.Ragde, was a notorious goon with a long crime sheet, including murder, extortion and dacoity. Ragde was recently released on bail in a honey-trap and dacoity case, where he used his female friend to trap and rob an aspiring businessman from Buti Bori. He was earlier caught with firearms by Tehsil police.Sparks flew when Ragde came to know that his rival, Raut, from Digras in Yavatmal, who too faces an attempt-to-murder case, had grown close to his girlfriend. Raut had shifted from Digras to Nagpur and was working at a cloud kitchen, where the woman was employed, said police. Some of Ragde’s old aides had also begun mingling with Raut.On Thursday, Raut was at a liquor feast in a rented room near Narendra Nagar, where the woman was also present. When Ragde was tipped off about his girlfriend, he left his Kunjilalpeth home and stormed into the party room. Ragde banged, kicked and knocked on the door, but nobody opened. Then he smashed a glass window, forced his way in and blew his top on seeing his moll with Raut, who swiftly opened the rear gate and escaped. What followed was a high-voltage chase, before a fierce fight broke out. During the struggle, Raut snatched the knife from Ragde, pinned him down and stabbed him in the chest. Police reached the site and caught Raut with the weapon.Ragde was taken to a hospital, where he was declared dead. Although Ajni police caught the accused, a murder case was registered by Beltarodi police as the body was found in its limits. This is the 18th murder in just 54 days after police commissioner Vishwas Nangre Patil took charge.
