According to Hindu scriptures Ekadashi is a very significant day that holds a great religious and spiritual significance. On this auspicious day, Vaishnav devotees observe a strict fast and honor Lord Vishnu. Dev Shayani Ekadashi refers to the time, when Lord Vishnu would spend four months in Ksheer Sagar, the Milky Ocean, and that four-month period is also known as Chaturmas. This specific day is dedicated to worshiping Lord Vishnu. On Shukla Paksha Ekadashi Tithi this month, Dev Shayani Ekadashi will be celebrated.
Devshayani Ekadashi 2026: Puja Rituals
Get up early and take a holy bath, but be cautious not to use soap or body wash since there are certain rules to follow on the day of Ekadashi. After cleaning your house and puja area, place an idol of Lord Vishnu, Lord Krishna, or Laddoo Gopal Ji on a wooden plank and light a diya with desi ghee. Offer Tulsi Patra and yellow flowers to Lord Vishnu while reciting Vishnu Sahasranama and Vedic mantras. Observe this fast with sincere intentions and by leading a genuine Sattvik lifestyle. Devotees should break their fast during parana time on the day after dwadashi tithi.
