Polling booths across West Bengal will function from 7 am to 6 pm. Election officials have urged voters to reach their designated polling stations on time and carry valid identification. Booth Level Officers have begun distributing voter information slips to facilitate the secure conduct of voting.
Proof of identity requirements
The voter ID card issued by the Election Commission of India will serve as proof of identity. In its absence, voters can carry any one of the following documents:
- Aadhaar card
- PAN card
- Passport
- Driving licence
- Bank or post office passbook with photograph
- Pension documents with photograph
- Government service identity cards
- NPR smart cards

Voters can find their polling stations through the Election Commission of India portal or by searching for ECI polling stations on Google Maps. By selecting the state, district, assembly constituency and polling station, they can access relevant details, including information about election officials.
Polling station details can also be checked through state election websites, voter slips or helpline apps. Voters are required to cast their vote only at their designated polling station, and verifying details in advance can help avoid confusion on polling day.
Key steps before voting day
Voters have been advised to check their names in the voter list through voters.eci.gov.in or the ECINET app. They should also verify their polling station details via the same platforms or by calling the toll free number 1950. Information about constituency candidates can be accessed through the ECINET app, while any queries related to voting can be addressed through the helpline number 1950.
Guidelines for voting day
Voters should ensure their names are on the electoral roll and carry a valid proof of identity. While the voter slip is not mandatory, it may be useful. They have also been advised to carry essentials such as an umbrella due to possible long queues.
Restrictions at polling booths
Voters must not wear or carry items displaying political party symbols. Carrying mobile phones inside polling booths is prohibited, and capturing photos or videos while voting is not allowed. Accepting cash or gifts from political representatives is prohibited, and impersonation is a punishable offence.
Permitted and restricted items
Voters may carry water, basic essentials and necessary items for elderly or differently abled individuals. However, flammable items, mobile phones, sharp objects and lighters are not allowed inside polling stations.
Facilities at polling stations
Arrangements have been made at polling stations to assist persons with disabilities, women and senior citizens. Ramps, wheelchairs and transport support for the physically challenged have been provided. Braille enabled EVMs and voter assistance booths are also in place. Senior citizens and physically challenged voters will be given priority entry and separate queues.
Basic amenities including drinking water, first aid and washroom facilities will be available at all polling booths.
