Tollyganj: Aroop Biswas looks to retain his ‘safe’ seat

Tollyganj, home to Kolkata’s film industry, has served Trinamool Congress heavyweight Aroop Biswas well, giving him substantial margins. He is pitted against Papia Adhikary, an actress who predominantly works in the Bengali media.

Uttarpara: TMC veteran’s son faces a tough fight against CPI(M)’s face

Uttarpara is set for a triangular contest with the Trinamool Congress, BJP and Left parties fielding key candidates, making it a closely watched seat in this phase. Sirsanya Bandopadhyay, the TMC candidate is an advocate and the son of TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee. Panihati: TMC candidate faces RG Kar rape victim’s mother

Panihati will see a three-cornered contest with Trinamool Congress candidate Tirthankar Ghosh up against BJP’s Ratna Debnath. Debnath is the mother of the victim of the brutal rape and murder of a woman doctor in RG Kar Medical College which rocked the state. CPI(M)’s candidate is Kalatan Dasgupta, who, coincidentally led the protests against the henious incident and also served jail time over the same.

Bhangar: ISF’s Nawsad Siddique, the only third front candidate to win in 2021 has a tough fight

Bhangar is set for a high-interest contest with ISF leader Nawsad Siddique facing Trinamool Congress’ popular and heavyweight candidate Saokat Molla. The ISF is part of the alliance with the Left in 2026 and Nawsad was the sole MLA of the alliance in 2021. Saokat Molla is the incumbent MLA from Canning Purba.
