Mangaluru: The famed Kukke Sri Subrahmanya Temple, about 100km from here, has tweaked its prasadam menu as the West Asia crisis continues to hit LPG supplies in IndiaServing nearly 10,000 devotees a day, the temple has trimmed fuel-heavy items to curb consumption. “We decided to take small steps to reduce LPG usage. For breakfast, we will serve avalakki (beaten rice) more frequently and reduce the number of days we prepare padengi (green gram/moong), which requires longer cooking time,” executive officer Aravinda Ayyappa Suthagundi told TOI.Anna prasadam will continue, but one vegetable dish, palya, has been removed from the lunch spread. The revised menu now includes rice, sambar, chutney, payasa and curds/buttermilk. The changes took effect Wednesday.Among the state’s highest revenue-earning temples, Kukke began serving breakfast prasadam last year after muzrai department approval. Earlier, only lunch was offered, causing many early-arriving devotees to leave before prasadam was served.Breakfast is served daily between 8am and 10am, with avalakki and padengi offered on a rotating basis.
