Gurgaon: A fire broke out at a furniture shop in Sector 89 near a petrol and CNG pump on Monday morning, triggering a major emergency response.Police said they received the information around 11am, following which seven fire tenders from Bhim Nagar, IMT Manesar, Sector 29, Udyog Vihar and Sector 37 were rushed to the spot. The blaze was brought under control after a couple of hours.An officer said goods worth lakhs were destroyed, though the exact loss is yet to be assessed. No casualties were reported.The affected premises comprised five warehouses owned by different individuals, including Zaid Khan, Javed, Shad, Naushad, Zuber, Zahir, Asgar Khan and Shamsher Khan.Police said welding work was underway in one of the warehouses for tin shed installation when sparks allegedly ignited wooden material, causing the fire to spread to adjoining units.
