NEW DELHI: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast generally cloudy skies over Delhi on Thursday, August 27, with very light to light rain possible at many places during the morning to forenoon. The maximum temperature is likely to remain between 33°C and 35°C, while the minimum temperature is expected to be between 25°C and 27°C.The forecast comes as a low-pressure area over northeast Madhya Pradesh and adjoining areas has shifted to south Uttar Pradesh and adjoining northeast Madhya Pradesh. Its associated cyclonic circulation extends up to 4.5 km above mean sea level.

Delhi is likely to see generally cloudy skies with the possibility of very light to light rain at many places during the morning to forenoon on August 27.Winds are expected to remain southeasterly at around 5-15 kmph through different parts of the day. The IMD has forecast no major change in maximum temperatures during the next seven days.

Delhi experienced light to moderate rain at most places and moderate to heavy rain at isolated places during the 24 hours ending 8:30 am on August 26, along with thunderstorms and lightning.At Safdarjung, the maximum temperature was 33.4°C, while the minimum temperature was 26.5°C. The station recorded 8.8 mm of rainfall during the 24 hours ending at 8:30 am.Rainfall was heavier in some parts of Delhi-NCR. Pusa recorded 51.1 mm, Pitampura recorded 64.5 mm, while Mayur Vihar recorded 12 mm during the same period.

The current weather system is supported by a monsoon trough extending from Jammu through Dehradun, Shahjahanpur and the low-pressure area over south Uttar Pradesh and adjoining northeast Madhya Pradesh towards the Northeast Bay of Bengal.Another trough extends from the low-pressure area across East Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Odisha towards the Northeast Bay of Bengal.A Western Disturbance is also present as a cyclonic circulation over north Haryana and adjoining areas.

IMD’s latest forecast for the next few days
The IMD has forecast very light to light rain at many places over Delhi on Thursday morning to forenoon, after which weather conditions are expected to become predominantly dry.From August 28 onwards, Delhi is likely to see partly cloudy skies with no rain forecast through September 1. The department has also said there is no significant change expected in maximum temperatures during the next seven days.
