NEW DELHI: The IMD has forecast heavy rain and thunderstorms in several parts of the states, with isolated very heavy rainfall likely in parts of Madhya Pradesh, Odisha and Uttarakhand. Lightning and gusty winds are also likely in some areas.
State-wise forecast
Madhya Pradesh
Madhya Pradesh is likely to witness some of the most intense rainfall during the forecast period. The IMD has predicted isolated very heavy rain in Dindori, Balaghat, Narmadapuram, Jabalpur, Narsinghpur, Mandla, Damoh and Sagar.Other districts across the Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Chambal, Rewa, Shahdol and Jabalpur divisions are also likely to receive heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds.
Kerala
In Kerala, the rain alert will remain in place in three districts on Tuesday while unsettled weather is expected to continue across several parts of the state.The forecast comes as Kerala enters the Onam festival period, with weather officials continuing to monitor the prevailing conditions.
Odisha
Heavy rain is likely to continue across several districts of Odisha until August 26, according to the IMD.The state is expected to remain under the influence of the prevailing weather system, with rainfall activity likely to persist in several areas.
Uttarakhand
The IMD has forecastisolated heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand until August 28,with some areas likely to receive intense spells of rain during this period.
Eastern and northeastern regions
Fairly widespread rainfall is expected over theAndaman and Nicobar Islands, Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim until August 28.Jharkhand is also likely to receive fairly widespread rain through August 28, while Bihar is expected to see similar rainfall activity on August 25 and 26.
Jammu and Kashmir
The IMD has warned of thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds of up to 60 kmph at isolated places in Jammu and Kashmir over the next five days.The weather department has also cautioned that vulnerable hilly areas could face flash floods, landslides and mudslides.
