Rain and thunderstorms are likely to remain active across several parts of the country this week.

NEW DELHI: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rain in parts of Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal on Tuesday.Several other parts of the country may also see thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds.

IMD alert for Tuesday

The IMD has forecast heavy rain at isolated places in Karnataka, Kerala, Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds are likely in Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, Mahe, Lakshadweep, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.Andhra Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Telangana and Uttarakhand may also see thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds.

North India weather tomorrow

Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand may see thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds.Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan and Muzaffarabad are also likely to see thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds, along with isolated to scattered rain.Rain is likely to continue in parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan and Muzaffarabad in the coming days, while Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand may remain wet through Saturday.

East and central India forecast

Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha and west Madhya Pradesh may see thunderstorms and lightning on Tuesday.Gangetic West Bengal is likely to see thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds.Rain is also expected in parts of Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim over the coming days.

South India rain forecast

Heavy rain is possible in parts of Karnataka, Kerala, Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.Kerala, Mahe and Lakshadweep may also see thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds.Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are likely to see thunderstorms and gusty winds, while coastal Karnataka and south interior Karnataka may see thunderstorms and lightning.

Rain forecast in other parts

Isolated to scattered rain is likely in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim.In the west, Konkan, Goa and central Maharashtra are likely to see rain on Wednesday and Thursday.

IMD’s latest forecast for the next few days

Rain and thunderstorms are likely to remain active across several parts of the country this week.The north, east and northeast are likely to continue seeing rain, while the south remains the main focus for heavy rain in the immediate outlook. Rain is also expected to increase over parts of west India from Wednesday.
