NEW DELHI: Heavy rain is likely at isolated places in parts of the Northeast, south interior Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal on Tuesday, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).Several parts of the country are also likely to see thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds.
IMD alert for Tuesday
The IMD has forecast heavy rain at isolated places over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, south interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are likely at isolated places over Assam and Meghalaya, Kerala and Mahe, central Maharashtra, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura, and Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.
Thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds
Parts of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Andhra Pradesh and interior Karnataka may also see thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds.Thunderstorms with lightning are likely at isolated places over Konkan, Goa and Madhya Pradesh.Andhra Pradesh may also see strong surface winds at isolated places.
Northeast under heavy rain alert
Assam and Meghalaya are likely to receive heavy rain on Tuesday, along with thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds.Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura are also under a heavy rain warning and may see thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds.
South India forecast
South interior Karnataka is likely to receive heavy rain at isolated places on Tuesday, with thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds also possible.Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal may also receive heavy rain, along with thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds. Kerala and Mahe are likely to see thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds.
Central and west India forecast
Central Maharashtra is likely to see thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds at isolated places.Thunderstorms and lightning are also forecast over Konkan, Goa and Madhya Pradesh.
IMD’s latest forecast for next few days
Rainfall is also likely to continue over parts of central and western India, including Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Konkan, Goa and central Maharashtra, at varying intervals through October 3.
