NEW DELHI: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast widespread rainfall across several parts of the country on Thursday, with heavy to very heavy rainfall likely at isolated places in parts of north, central, eastern and northeastern India.Heavy rain is likely at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Uttarakhand, West and East Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Odisha, East Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and parts of coastal and southern India.IMD alert for ThursdayThe IMD has forecast isolated very heavy rainfall over East Madhya Pradesh, while heavy to very heavy rainfall is also likely over parts of Uttar Pradesh and the Himalayan region.Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and Uttarakhand are expected to receive widespread rainfall. Isolated very heavy rain is likely over these areas, while thunderstorms and lightning are also possible.West Uttar Pradesh is likely to receive widespread rainfall, while East Uttar Pradesh may see heavy rain. The Himalayan region, central India, eastern India, the Northeast and parts of the west coast are likely to remain particularly wet.The IMD has also warned of strong surface winds over parts of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema. Fishermen have been advised to exercise caution over parts of the Arabian Sea, Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal waters through the coming days.
