NEW DELHI: Heavy rainfall is likely across several parts of the country on Thursday, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting heavy rain over parts of northwest, central, east, northeast, west and peninsular India.Very heavy rainfall is also likely at isolated places over east Madhya Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal, central Maharashtra, Odisha and west Uttar Pradesh.Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are also likely across several regions, while a thundersquall with strong winds is expected over the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

IMD forecast for Thursday

Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over east Madhya Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal, central Maharashtra, Odisha and west Uttar Pradesh.Heavy rainfall is also likely over the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, coastal Karnataka, east Rajasthan, east Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Kerala, Mahe, Konkan, Goa, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Punjab, south interior Karnataka, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Uttarakhand and west Madhya Pradesh.

Delhi-NCR weather tomorrow

Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi are likely to receive heavy rainfall at isolated places.

North India forecast

Heavy rainfall is likely over east Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand and west Uttar Pradesh. East Rajasthan is also likely to receive heavy rain at isolated places.Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are likely over Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan and Muzaffarabad. Similar conditions are also expected over east Rajasthan and Uttarakhand.

East and central India forecast

Very heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over east Madhya Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal, central Maharashtra and Odisha, while heavy rain is also expected over Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, west Madhya Pradesh, sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim.Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are likely over Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, West Bengal and Sikkim. Thunderstorms with lightning are also expected over Chhattisgarh.

Northeast under rain watch

Assam and Meghalaya are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall, with extremely heavy rain possible at isolated places.Heavy rainfall is also likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are expected over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura, while thunderstorms are also likely over Arunachal Pradesh.

West India forecast

Very heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over central Maharashtra, while heavy rain is expected over Konkan and Goa.

South India forecast

Heavy rainfall is likely over coastal Karnataka, Kerala, Mahe, south interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are likely over coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Kerala, Mahe, north interior Karnataka and Telangana.Strong surface winds are also likely over parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Karnataka, Kerala, Mahe and Telangana.A thundersquall, with winds reaching 50-60 kmph, is likely at isolated places over the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

IMD’s latest forecast for the next few days

Rainfall activity is likely to continue across several parts of the country through August 11.Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall is expected over Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad and Uttarakhand, while east Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi and Punjab are also likely to see widespread rain in the coming days.Heavy rainfall is likely to continue over several parts of north, central, east, northeast and peninsular India. Isolated very heavy rainfall is also expected over parts of east Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, west Uttar Pradesh, east Rajasthan, east Madhya Pradesh, west Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Odisha and parts of the Northeast over the next few days.
