Paint, powder and foam took over Bushy Park in the wee hours of Sunday morning as hundreds of patrons came out to enjoy the tenth anniversary of We Ting Jouvert.
With the energy high and complementary multi-colour branded cups in hand, the fully sold-out event started promptly after 2 a.m. and featured different sets from DJs across the island behind the two music trucks.
Fire dancers performed around the track alongside the patrons and drummers accompanied the music on the trucks.
Truck 1 nicknamed We 10 Times Bashy kicked off the event with an energy-filled set by DJ C4 before switching over to sets by DJ Ras, Legacy Team and Jagwa De Champ.
Songs such as As A Friend by Fari, Bob The Builder by Trinidadian artiste Lady Lava, Tek Charge by Leadpipe and Darkers by Jordan English were some of the songs repeatedly played behind this truck.
Truck 2 nicknamed We 10 Classics also kicked off around 2 a.m. with DJ sets by Salt and Don and was followed by Hutchy and Sizz, Vibe Nation, and Jesse T & Riz. The Greatest Bend Over by Trinidadian artiste Yung Bredda, Come Home by Vincentian artiste Skinny Fabulous and Trinidadian artiste Nailah Blackman, and Ah Feeling by Leadpipe and Saddis were some of the songs played behind this truck.
As the sun rose and the jump ended at approximately 7:15 a.m., patrons were treated to a variety of food and drinks included in their tickets, including sweet bakes, sausages, samosas, corn soup, pasta, pizza, and Dasani water.
However, the party did not end there as the WeTing Afterparty featured performances by Leadpipe and Saddis, Brucelee and Mole, and Jagwa De Champ.
The Afterparty also featured an inflatable slide, bouncy house, and merry-go-round, which patrons could enjoy to conclude their eventful jump.
Members of the management team, including promoter Mario Turton, sent this message to their patrons to the NATION team after the event concluded just after 8 am.
“WE 10… From the start till now in all things, we give thanks,” the team said. “To everyone who’s walked this journey with us, whether from Year 1 or Year 10, One Love. Always.”
