Kolkata: The seat count in BTech engineering courses in the state has increased from around 44,000 in 2024 to 48,683 this year, West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board (WBJEEB) chairman Goutam Pal announced on Friday. Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of a pre-counseling and education fair organized by the Association of Professional Academic Institutions, West Bengal (APAI-WB), Pal said many engineering colleges in Bengal are introducing BTech courses in robotics, AI, and machine learning, which could attract a greater number of students. He said, “The syllabus should be upgraded every year. We have started the e-counseling. This time, the process started much earlier. I am hopeful that all seats will be filled this time.” The first phase of counselling is underway and will continue till July 5.
