Lucknow: Saturday’s heavy rain brought traffic to a crawl across the city, leaving dozens of vehicles stranded in waterlogged stretches.Among the worst-hit locations was the Marine Drive underpass, where a family’s outing ended in a nightmare. “My car suddenly stalled and later I found the sump had broken. The repair bill could be around ₹1.5 lakh,” Rahul Sharma said.The underpass connecting Janeshwar Mishra Park to Hotel Taj witnessed similar scenes, with locals estimating that more than 50 vehicles broke down between 3 pm and 6 pm while crossing the flooded stretch.For Anjali Verma in Jankipuram Extension, the ordeal came while she was rushing her elderly mother to a hospital. “Our car stopped midway in knee-deep water, and there was no help available,” she said.IT professional Saurabh Singh said his hatchback developed electrical problems after driving through a waterlogged road in Gomti Nagar. “ Getting help was nearly impossible because mechanics couldn’t reach the area,” he said.
