Hyderabad: Health minister Damodar Rajanarasimha on Sunday said that the Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS) hospitals and the Warangal Super Speciality Hospital would be made available to the public by the end of this year.Replying to queries raised by members during the discussion on demands for grants in the assembly, the health minister stated that construction of the new Osmania General Hospital building has commenced at an estimated cost of approximately Rs 2,700 crore. He added that the TIMS facilities would be developed along the lines of NIMS.Medical and administrative services in govt hospitals will be bifurcated to reduce the workload on doctors. Diagnostic services are also being expanded, with modern MRI and CT scan facilities being extended to the district level. “While CT scan services were introduced in 10 new hospitals last year, plans are underway to install another 11 CT scan machines and introduce MRI services in eight hospitals this year,” he said.He explained that these measures are being taken to ensure that people can access services locally, thereby eliminating the need to travel to Hyderabad. He further stated that 109 trauma care centres are being established to strengthen emergency services, with plans to set up one centre every 35 kilometres.The minister also revealed that free IVF services are being provided to couples facing infertility, with 28,000 people having availed these services at the Gandhi and Petlaburj IVF centres. The minister announced that seven Centres of Excellence (CoE) hospitals are being established in Hyderabad, and that the Warangal Super Speciality Hospital in Hanamkonda will be developed into a CoE to provide treatment for haemoglobinopathies such as Sickle Cell Anaemia, Thalassaemia, and Haemophilia.“The National Medical Commission has sanctioned new PG seats in 10 medical colleges. In the coming days, five PG centres will be established in secondary-level hospitals, which will enhance the availability of specialist doctors in the districts,” he said.
