Jaipur: Muskaan Foundation for road safety, with support from Rajasthan police, organised a walkathon Sunday to promote pedestrian safety in the city.Organisers said Jaipur has witnessed several pedestrian accidents in the past four years, including the 2012 death of IAS officer VS Singh, who was hit by a car during a morning walk.Over 1,000 participants, including students, trainees from Rajasthan Police Academy and personnel of the Kalika Squad, took part in the five-km walk from Mahal Road to Akshaya Patra Chauraha.Flagging off the event, DGP Rajeev Kumar Sharma said pedestrian safety is a key pillar of road safety and called for sustained awareness efforts. Police officials, including Yogesh Dhadich and Kunwar Rashtradeep, were also present.Participants raised the slogan #StreetsForAll, highlighting the need for pedestrian-friendly infrastructure in Jaipur.
