In a latest development in the West Bengal Assembly Elections 2026, VVPAT slips were allegedly found discarded openly. VVPAT slips allegedly from booth number 29 of Noapara Assembly were found discarded in Subhashnagar of Ichapur Nilganj Panchayat of Madhyamgram Assembly. This has come a day before the vote counting was scheduled in the state on May 04. CPI-M candidate from the seat, Gargi Chatterjee, and the Police has reached the spot. Trinankur Bhattacharjee from TMC and Arjun Singh from BJP are also contesting the Assembly elections from this seat. District Election Officer “Upon examination” clarifies, VVPAT slips found are from a mock poll, not the actual poll conducted on election day.
