Vadodara: The Vadodara Municipal Corporation’s (VMC) food safety team inspected 30 food establishments across the city and imposed penalties totalling Rs3.63 lakh during a drive to check compliance with food safety and hygiene standards on Wednesday.The inspections were carried out in several areas, including Makarpura, Gorwa, Vasna, Waghodia Road, Manjalpur, Gotri, Harni, Sama, Ajwa Road, Tarsali, Fatehgunj, Karelibaug, Akota and Chhani. Officials also collected food samples from various outlets for examination.Among the outlets that faced action were Kaka Ni Pavbhaji, Jay Ambe Sev Usal, Devkrupa, Chai Ni Lari and Mahakali Sev Usal in Subhanpura and Jagdish Farsan in Amitnagar. Individual penalties ranged from Rs3,000 to Rs25,000, officials said.Shri Mayatirth Seva Foods Pvt Ltd was fined Rs25,000, while Jay Ambe Traders faced a penalty of Rs10,000. Bajrang Fast Food and several other food establishments were also penalised during the drive.In Chhani, the civic body inspected multiple food units and took action against outlets found violating food safety and hygiene requirements. Notices were also issued in cases involving unhygienic conditions and the use of prohibited materials.VMC officials said the drive was aimed at ensuring that food establishments comply with prescribed safety and hygiene standards. They added that further action would be taken against units found violating the norms.
