T’puram: Three fishermen from Vizhinjam, who had gone missing after venturing into the sea for fishing, were traced safely on Tuesday following an extensive multi-agency search operation. Officials said the fishermen were brought ashore at the Vizhinjam coast at 1.30pm.The missing fishermen were identified as Sanu (45) and Robinson (55), both natives of Vettucaud, and Babu (40), of Valiyaveli. The trio had set out for fishing around 3pm on Sunday and were expected to return in the early hours of Monday. When they failed to return, marine enforcement wing launched a search operation based on information received from coastal police.The search continued late into Sunday night with the participation of the fishermen’s relatives.A renewed large-scale search involving marine enforcement wing, the coast guard and local fishermen commenced at daybreak on Monday. The coordinated operation eventually led to the successful location of all three fishermen, who were found safe.Authorities have not reported any injuries, and further details regarding the circumstances that led to the fishermen going missing are awaited.
