Bengaluru: A Vishnu Sai Theja, a student of Narayana CO Kaveri Bhavan, Kasavanahalli, topped Karnataka in the JEE Mains-1 results announced Monday, achieving a 99.99 percentile. He secured the 14th rank nationally.Vishnu secured 100 percentile in Physics, 99.99 percentile in Chemistry, and 99.97 percentile in Maths.

“His excellent scores in each subject show how well-prepared he’s and his strong understanding of concepts,” the school said.Vishnu said consistent hard work helped him secure good marks. “In the beginning, I used to spend 8am to 8pm at school. Later, I would come home by 5.30pm and study until 11pm,” he said. Vishnu added that he played chess or cricket occasionally. “If I felt stressed, I would watch YouTube or cricket,” he said.Vishnu is vying for a computer science seat in top IITs. “I’ve always loved Physics and Maths, so choosing engineering was an obvious path. I also had consistent support from the school, especially from the core dean, Surendranath Reddy,” he said.Vishnu Sai Theja is the son of Ravikumar Setty, a global engineering leader at Visteon, Bangalore, and Pallavi, an MBA graduate and homemaker. Karnataka had no students among the 12 who secured 100 percentile. The exam was taken by over 13 lakh students.
