Patna: CM Samrat Choudhary on Thursday announced that the Bihar govt will re-establish the historic Vikramshila University within a year as part of efforts to revive the state’s educational heritage.Addressing the 70th foundation day celebrations of A N College and the 149th birth anniversary of freedom fighter Anugrah Narain Singh in Patna, Samrat said land required for the project would be acquired within a fortnight and efforts would be made to make the university operational at the earliest.He said PM Narendra Modi had also emphasised the need to restore Vikramshila University during the revival of Nalanda University.Samrat said the Nitish govt has established several educational institutions and will now focus on improving quality through innovation and research. He added that all pending proposals for new educational institutions had been cleared in the last two Cabinet meetings.To improve academic standards, Bihar universities will sign MoUs with 10 leading universities in the country. Students will also get opportunities to study at top global institutions under future collaborations.The chief minister also assured support for securing deemed university status for A N College and said the police station located on the campus would be shifted within 10 days.State minister Ashok Choudhary and other education officials were present.
