Varanasi: Vikas Inter College edged past Imperial Club 15-14 to lift the winner’s trophy in a thrilling final of the First Women’s Beach Handball Tournament on Wednesday.The title match, played on the sands of the Ganga in front of Math Gadhwa Ashram, saw both teams put up an aggressive display from the outset. National players Ritika Prajapati and Anshika Yadav led the attack for Vikas Inter College, while Akanksha Sonkar and Divya Patel responded strongly for Imperial Club, who held an 8-7 lead at half-time.Vikas Inter College made a strong comeback in the second half with a change in strategy. Preeti Prajapati and goalkeeper Shreya Singh delivered standout performances, while Divya Yadav and goalkeeper Shreya Vishwakarma kept Imperial Club in contention.The match was decided in the final moments when Ritika Prajapati netted a decisive dive shot two minutes before the final whistle, sealing a narrow 15-14 win.Ritika Prajapati was the top scorer for Vikas Inter College with 7 goals, while Anshika Yadav and Divya Yadav added 4 goals each. For Imperial Club, Akanksha Sonkar and Divya Patel scored 7 goals each.
