Shivamogga: BJP state president BY Vijayendra on Sunday urged the state govt to take stringent action against illegal cattle smugglers and demanded that those responsible for the violence be treated as “anti-nationals”.Speaking to reporters after visiting the injured victims at a hospital in Shikaripura, Vijayendra called upon chief minister DK Shivakumar and the home department to intervene immediately and restore law and order in the state. He demanded that those involved be booked under non-bailable provisions, that strict measures be taken to prevent similar incidents, and that illegal cattle trafficking be curbed to protect public sentiments and avoid unrest. The incident reportedly occurred late on Sunday night near Haratalu village in Hosanagara taluk when a group of miscreants allegedly attempted to steal and transport cattle from the residence of a local activist, Chandan.Upon noticing the theft, Chandan, along with fellow Bajrang Dal members Kiran and Abhilash, chased the truck carrying the cattle. The suspects allegedly bypassed police checkpoints within Shikaripura limits and assaulted the activists when confronted. After meeting the injured victims at the hospital, Vijayendra assured them of full support. He said that while the vehicles involved in the incident had been seized, stern legal action was necessary to prevent a breakdown of law and order in Karnataka.
