Chennai: Tamil Nadu chief minister C Joseph Vijay on Wednesday visited the MLA office in Perambur constituency and received petitions from residents on civic grievances, besides inaugurating a ₹2.23 crore auxiliary building of Aavin State Central Laboratory at Madhavaram.At the MLA office, Vijay received petitions from residents seeking redressal of civic issues. The office has a dedicated team and an e-Seva centre to receive and process complaints and fast-track them for immediate redressal.At Madhavaram, Vijay inaugurated the new auxiliary building of Aavin State Central Laboratory, constructed at a cost of ₹2.23 crore. The facility has advanced equipment for drinking water and wastewater testing in accordance with BIS, FSSAI and Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board standards.He also inspected the Madhavaram dairy, which handles around 4.5 lakh litres of milk a day and distributes milk across north Chennai through an average of 120 vehicles. Vijay reviewed the construction of a new automated dairy with a capacity to handle seven lakh litres of milk a day, being built at an estimated cost of ₹152.26 crore, and directed officials to expedite the work.Later, at TN Police Academy, Vijay attended the passing-out parade of the 14th batch of trainee DSPs. The 25 officers — 11 women and 14 men — underwent 52 weeks of training in law, investigation, police administration, internal security, intelligence, community policing, cybercrime, CCTNS and modern policing technology, besides physical and field training.Vijay presented the Sword of Honour, Chief Minister’s Trophy and gold medal to T Aneesh Pradeep for overall excellence. O Karthika received the silver medal and P S Divya the bronze medal. Trophies and medals were also presented to trainees who excelled in other categories.
