Chief minister V D Satheesan raised the issue during a meeting with Tamil Nadu C Joseph Vijay on the sidelines of the Southern Zonal Council meeting in Mahabalipuram on Thursday

Thiruvananthapuram: The chief minister’s office here on Friday said Tamil Nadu CM C Joseph Vijay had promised to consider exempting Kerala from the ban on transporting stone aggregate and quarry materials used for construction to other states.CM V D Satheesan raised the issue during a meeting with Vijay on the sidelines of the Southern Zonal Council meeting in Mahabalipuram on Thursday, the CMO said in a statement. He urged Vijay to reconsider the restrictions in view of Kerala’s special circumstances. The ban has affected work on the Vizhinjam port and NH-66 projects in Kerala. The two states will hold further discussions on the matter and take an appropriate decision, it said.
