Nagpur: Vidarbha students have delivered an impressive performance in JEE Main 2026, with multiple candidates securing near-perfect percentiles, underscoring the region’s growing academic edge in competitive exams.Leading the list is Omisha Jain, the top-performing girl from the region, who secured 99.991 percentile and AIR 245. “Preparing for the exam was never stressful for me because I enjoy solving questionnaires and past papers. My immediate goal is to crack JEE Advanced and score well,” she told TOI.Palak Jaipuriya, who also secured AIR 245 with a 99.98 percentile and is likely among Vidarbha’s top three performers, credited her success to a disciplined and evolving study plan. She followed a two-phase strategy—initially balancing around five hours of self-study with coaching sessions, and later intensifying her preparation to nearly 12 hours a day after completing the syllabus.Highlighting the importance of mental well-being, Palak said she took regular breaks, spent time with her parents, and pursued activities like playing the guitar and interacting with friends to stay refreshed. As the first in her family to achieve this milestone, she credited her parents’ constant support as a key factor in her success.Among other standout performers, Madhav Notani secured AIR 91 with an exceptional 99.998 percentile, placing him among the top scorers nationally. Yash Raut also made the region proud, securing AIR 246 with a 99.988 percentile and emerging as the second rank holder nationally in the ST category. He emphasised consistency and clarity in preparation, maintaining a study schedule of nearly 12 hours daily with equal focus on all subjects. His approach centred on building strong fundamentals through self-made notes, practising past years’ papers, and effectively using study material.Looking ahead, Yash aims to join IIT Bombay, his dream institution. With JEE Advanced approaching, he has already begun the next phase of preparation after completing his board exams, describing it as “one stress down and one more to go.” Despite the pressure, he maintains balance by spending time with friends and listening to music, underlining the importance of mental relaxation alongside academic focus.
