Nagpur: A woman police constable posted at Imambada police station has charged her estranged husband with spiking her drink and forcing her into unnatural sex in a case of marital rape.The complainant, 40, registered an FIR at Nandanvan police station on April 20 against her 42-year-old husband.Earlier this year, the woman cop had registered another case against her husband and relatives at Imambada police station. She has also filed a divorce petition in family court. Currently, she’s staying with her mother. On April 19, around 9am, the complainant called her husband, expressing her wish to meet their two sons.The accused reportedly asked her to come to a spot near Nandanvan area, opposite a wine shop, at 4:30pm, promising to bring the children.However, the husband arrived alone at the location and was learnt to have taken her to the terrace, luring her to have a chat and meet their children too in some time.The woman alleged her husband offered her a cold drink laced with strong sedatives and she felt dizzy. The constable claimed the accused then forced her into unnatural intercourse without her consent.The alleged incident occurred around 8pm on April 19 near the Nandanvan area. The complainant stated she was compelled into the act against her will, leading to her decision to file another case against him.Nandanvan police registered FIR based on the woman’s statement, invoking relevant provisions under BNS, including Section 67, which deals with sexual intercourse during separation without consent, which is punishable with jail of not less than two years and may extend to seven years, and fine.The accused is yet to be arrested. “This case underlines a sensitive intersection of family court proceedings and criminal complaints in estranged marriages,” said a senior official. A medical examination of the victim has been conducted, and an investigating team visited the scene of the incident.
