Nagpur: After days of intense heat, parts of Vidarbha are likely to get relief as thunderstorms accompanied by rain are forecast between April 20 and 22, with the possibility of lightning and isolated hailstorms.According to the weather outlook, the Amravati division and adjoining areas of Vidarbha are expected to witness thunderstorm activity, especially during the afternoon and evening hours. Cloudy conditions will begin building up from April 19, when isolated pockets may see light thunderstorm-related rainfall.The activity is expected to intensify on April 20 and 21, with a wider spread across Vidarbha, bringing gusty winds, lightning and moderate rainfall in several districts. Some places may also experience hailstorms. However, the intensity and coverage are likely to reduce by April 22.The forecast also covers parts of western Maharashtra (ghat regions), Khandesh and Marathwada, but Vidarbha is among the key regions likely to be impacted during the peak phase of the system.The agriculture dept has issued an advisory urging farmers in Vidarbha to remain alert and take precautionary measures. Farmers have been asked to plan farm activities in line with the forecast, safely store harvested crops or cover them with tarpaulin, and protect standing crops from strong winds, rain and possible hail. They have also been advised against keeping harvested produce or vegetables in the open.
