Prayagraj: Activists of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s (VHP) Gau Raksha wing (Kashi prant) on Wednesday submitted a memorandum addressed to the President through district authorities, demanding protection of cows and strict action against those involved in cattle smuggling and slaughter.Lal Mani Tiwari, regional secretary of the VHP’s Gau Raksha wing, said cows are a source of ‘satvic’ energy, economic prosperity and well-being. He said the organisation was concerned over the rising incidents of cattle trafficking and cow slaughter across the country.The outfit demanded a complete nationwide ban on cow slaughter and sought action to curb alleged corruption in cow shelters. It also urged authorities to ensure adequate shade, fodder, clean drinking water and green fodder at shelters, besides providing nutritious feed to cattle as per prescribed standards.
