Chennai: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Monday arrested Gem Granites chairman R Veeramani, 84, in connection with the third case registered against him for abetting the suicide of a minor girl reported in 2004.Veeramani is facing seven cases, including six child rape cases and one relating to the abetment of a minor girl’s suicide. Police said 10 survivors had been identified so far in connection with the allegations.The latest arrest formed part of the SIT’s ongoing investigation into allegations against Veeramani and his associates. He was initially arrested on Aug 29 in connection with an earlier case. Shanthi and Mahendra Simhan were also arrested in connection with the investigation.
