Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy has asked the vigilance and enforcement (V&E) wing to examine the Globarena goof-up in the publication of Intermediate results in 2019, after which 27 students allegedly died by suicide, and reopen the case. The case was subsequently closed during the previous BRS govt’s tenure. Globarena, which rechristened itself as Coempt EduTeck, is now at the centre of the CBSE on-screen marking system controversy, which led to widespread technical glitches and protests.In a chat with mediapersons at his residence in Jubilee Hills on Sunday, the CM said the govt would first seek legal opinion and examine other aspects before deciding on reopening the case.

“The V&E is looking into it and, based on its report, a decision will be taken,” the CM said. The V&E has been asked to look into the case following a complaint by an MLC, the CM said.Revanth Reddy, who had earlier claimed that Globarena Technologies belonged to a benami of former minister and BRS working president KT Rama Rao, said many irregularities “happened in the 2019 Intermediate exam paper evaluation”. Students also died by suicide due to the irregularities committed by Globarena, he added.However, the previous govt had not booked (criminal) cases against the company. Later, the same firm changed its name and got involved in the CBSE exams as well. In CBSE marks too, irregularities have taken place, he alleged.“To reopen the case, a fresh complaint needs to be lodged. We can’t reopen it just like that as legalities will be involved. That is why we have given it to V&E,” Revanth Reddy said. He had recently challenged K T Rama Rao to lodge a complaint with the Central Crime Station (CCS) against Globarena, stating that the govt was prepared to conduct a comprehensive and impartial investigation.Revanth Reddy’s contention is that if the govt conducts an investigation, BRS will accuse the Congress govt of seeking political vendetta. So, if the BRS leader himself lodges a complaint, a thorough investigation could be done, he had said then.On Thursday, Revanth also responded to the defamation notice served on him by KTR for accusing that Globarena was a benami of the former minister, and said the BRS leader had no reason to file a defamation case if the allegations made by him were false.
