Varanasi: Varanasi division secured the top position in Uttar Pradesh for its performance in 100-day TB Mukt Bharat campaign conducted from March 24 to July 5.Additional director, Medical Health and Family Welfare, Dr N D Sharma, said the campaign ensured complete coverage of high-risk villages, with screening, testing and treatment services delivered across both rural and urban areas. Special camps at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs helped identify suspected tuberculosis patients, who were provided timely treatment.The districts of Varanasi, Chandauli, Jaunpur and Ghazipur played a key role in the campaign. Activities including chest X-rays, microbiological testing through NAAT machines, differentiated TB care, contact screening of family members and distribution of poshan potlis were carried out effectively.Dr Sharma credited the success to the coordinated efforts of medical officers, health workers, National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme teams and partner institutions. He said close coordination ensured timely assistance to patients and effective monitoring throughout the campaign.Agra and Saharanpur divisions also shared the top honours at the state level.
