For this, a provision of Rs 5 crore has been made for the scheme in the 2026-27 financial year.

Lucknow: The state cabinet approved the establishment of Indian Knowledge Tradition Research Chair in state universities and colleges to promote India’s rich intellectual and cultural heritage.

According to the proposal, state universities and colleges that are over 50 years old and have a student strength of 5,000 and above will have research chairs named after eminent Indian thinkers, philosophers, scholars and visionaries.

For this, a provision of Rs 5 crore has been made for the scheme in the 2026-27 financial year. The research chairs will focus on studying, documenting and disseminating contributions of great Indian acharyas, philosophers, scientists and intellectuals. Students will also be introduced to scientific, philosophical and practical relevance of traditional Indian knowledge systems. TNN
