The United States is reportedly considering whether more European NATO states could host infrastructure linked to its nuclear deterrent, in what the Financial Times described as a move aimed at reassuring allies even as Washington weighs reducing some conventional military presence in Europe. According to the reported discussions, the idea is to show that a smaller U.S. troop footprint would not necessarily mean a weaker American security guarantee.
