A US court has dismissed with prejudice the criminal indictment against Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani, Sagar Adani and Vneet S. Jaain and other third-party individuals in a bribery-related case, Adani Green Energy said in a regulatory filing on Tuesday.
The US Department of Justice (DOJ) had filed a motion seeking dismissal of the charges against Gautam Adani, Sagar Adani, Vneet S Jaain and other third-party individuals. The US District Court for the Eastern District of New York subsequently dismissed the indictment with prejudice pursuant to an order dated August 10, 2026.
A dismissal with prejudice bars prosecution against the defendants for the same allegations and means the case cannot be reopened, according to Adani Green’s disclosure.
The criminal indictment, filed by the US DOJ, had involved Gautam Adani, Sagar Adani, Vneet Jaain and other individuals. The case was connected to allegations concerning a scheme to pay bribes and conceal the alleged bribery scheme from US investors.
The court’s order followed the DOJ’s decision, in its prosecutorial discretion, to seek dismissal of the case. The court’s filing also notes changes in US Department of Justice policy concerning enforcement of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA).
The development is separate from the civil proceedings brought by the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) against Gautam Adani and Sagar Adani. In that matter, the US court entered a final judgment by consent on August 10, 2026.
