Vadodara: The City of Roanoke in Virginia, USA, has proclaimed June 22, 2026, as ‘Pujya Dr Gnanvatsal Swami Day’, recognising the contributions of BAPS senior monk and motivational speaker Gnanvatsal Swami.The proclamation was issued by Roanoke mayor Joseph L. Cobb during the swami’s visit to the city.The proclamation describes Gnanvatsal Swami as a spiritual leader, author and speaker whose teachings have inspired people worldwide to lead lives rooted in integrity, compassion and selfless service.According to the document, the senior monk, an engineering graduate of BVM College, dedicated his life to spiritual service after being initiated as a sadhu by Pramukh Swami Maharaj.Over the past three decades, he has delivered more than 15,500 discourses and reached over four million people across 40 countries through programmes focused on ethical living, character development and personal growth.The proclamation also highlights his work as an author, columnist and international speaker, crediting him with promoting harmony, moral values and humanitarian service across communities.“Mayor Cobb said the swami’s visit provided an opportunity to celebrate mutual respect, community engagement, cultural understanding and peace,” a release issued by BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha said.The release added that Roanoke is an eight-time recipient of the All-America City Award, which recognises outstanding civic engagement and community-building initiatives.
