MUMBAI: Olympia Coffee House in Colaba had its food licence suspended with immediate effect following a consumer complaint that flagged hygiene violations.On inspection, food safety officers found a urinal inside the food storage area, an infestation of cockroaches and flies, and unhygienic food preparation practices.Licences of seven other establishments, including Vishwas Sweets and Snacks in Ghatkopar West, A-1 General & Dry Fruits, Milan Punjab in Worli, and Sadguru Sweets in Malad East, were also suspended.Among these were a Blinkit warehouse in Chembur that failed hygiene standards and a canteen within Nair Hospital, which was cited for “serious hygiene and safety breaches affecting patient and public health.”With regard to the licence suspension of Olympia Coffee House, FDA officials said “During the suspension period, the establishment has been directed to cease all activities relating to the purchase, preparation, storage, sale, and distribution of food.” FDA told the press. As part of state’s festive-season campaign, a stock of milk and dairy products worth Rs 7,38,230 were seized across the state.
