Prayagraj: The 21st convocation ceremony of Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi Tandon Open University (UPRTOU), Prayagraj, will be held on July 17. The ceremony will be presided over by Governor of the state and chancellor of the university, Anandiben Patel.Renowned folk singer and recipient of the Padma Shri Award Malini Awasthi will grace the occasion as the chief guest while minister of higher education, UP govt, Yogendra Upadhyay, and the minister of state for higher education, Rajni Tiwari, will be the guests of honour on the occasion.The students, who have successfully completed their undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD programmes through the open and distance learning mode, corresponding to the Dec 2025 and June 2026 session, will be awarded their degrees on the occasion. Outstanding students will be honoured with the Chancellor’s Medals and University Gold Medals in recognition of their academic excellence.Public relations officer of the university, Prabhat Chandra Mishra, said that a series of ‘Deekshotsav’ programmes will also be organised on a large scale in the university’s adopted villages prior to the convocation. The action plan for these activities has already been finalised.Vice-chancellor Prof Satyakam has constituted 17 committees to ensure smooth and successful conduct of the convocation. These committees will oversee various arrangements, including auditorium decoration, security, registration, medal finalisation, degree distribution, hospitality, stage management, media coordination, discipline, cultural programmes and Deekshotsav activities.The VC said that all arrangements would be completed well in advance to ensure that the convocation is conducted with grandeur and dignity. At present, the university’s foremost priority is the timely declaration of examination results. Thereafter, the registration process for learners intending to participate in the convocation will commence in the last week of June 2026.
