Prayagraj: The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission is expected to release the PCS 2026 notification within the next couple of days, bringing relief to thousands of aspirants waiting for the state’s most prestigious civil services examination.UPPSC has already received requisitions for around 750 posts, indicating another large-scale recruitment drive for state civil services.Sources said the advertisement for PCS 2026 has already received approval and only a technical issue related to online applications for a few posts remains to be resolved. Once that hurdle is cleared, the notification is expected to be uploaded on the commission’s official portal.The development is significant because it would mark the third consecutive year in which PCS aspirants are likely to get a chance to compete for a bumper number of vacancies.The trend of vacancies swelling after the initial advertisement has also raised hopes among candidates. For PCS 2025, the commission initially advertised 200 posts, but the number rose sharply to 920 by the time the preliminary examination result was declared. A similar pattern was seen in PCS 2024, when the recruitment began with 220 vacancies and later expanded to 947 posts before the prelims result. Aspirants are therefore expecting that the number of posts in PCS 2026 may increase further before the recruitment cycle advances.The likely release of the notification comes at a time when the commission is simultaneously moving ahead with several other recruitment processes.UPPSC has invited online applications till July 8 from 169 candidates shortlisted for the second-stage Hindi typing test for recruitment to 14 posts of computer assistant. The first-stage examination for the post was held on Feb 6 at 49 centres in Prayagraj and Lucknow, where 7,898 candidates appeared out of 21,276 registered applicants.Candidates have been asked to submit the printout of their online application forms along with required documents to the commission by July 13.The commission has also sought applications till July 7 for recruitment to 21 posts of principal in polytechnics under the Uttar Pradesh Technical Education (Teaching) Service Examination-2025.In another recruitment exercise, online applications have been invited till July 7 for the LT Grade Computer main examination in govt secondary schools.According to the commission, 682 candidates declared successful in the preliminary exam will compete for 1,056 posts in the computer subject.
