Prayagraj: A member of Uttar Pradesh Rajya Gauseva Aayog on Tuesday directed officials for 100% ear-tagging of cattle.Ramakant Upadhaya also emphasised ensuring adequate arrangements for fodder/straw, lighting and drinking water for destitute bovines at gaushalas.Holding a meeting with officials in Prayagraj, he also instructed that green fodder be cultivated in all gaushalas in proportion to the number of cattle housed, and that the provision of green fodder be ensured for every animal.“Only cattle feed brands meeting prescribed quality standards must be purchased for use in the shelters,” he said.He also asked for vaccination and treatment of cattle and for that veterinary officers must visit the shelters at regular intervals.Upadhaya urged adoption of maximum number of cattle under the ‘Sahbhagita Yojana’ and instructed village heads and secretaries to submit fund requests on time and ensure timely payments.He also instructed that the number of cattle kept in each shelter should align with its capacity to ensure that necessary facilities are maintained. He further asked to identify land in Chaka block for gaushala.To ensure that cattle do not remain in the mud during the monsoon, Upadhaya directed that paved brick flooring be laid or raised platforms be arranged within the shelters. He also asked for a plan to enhance the utility of cow dung and urine generated at the gaushalas and to boost the shelters’ income through self-help groups.
