Prayagraj: The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) has warned against rumours and “misleading propaganda” being circulated on social media about the recruitment for 17,735 Assistant Teacher posts (Trained Graduate Teachers—TGT) in non-govt aided secondary schools.UPESSC chairman Prashant Kumar said on Tuesday that the reservation policy for the advertised posts has been implemented transparently and strictly in accordance with govt rules and prescribed procedures. He said claims being spread by “undesirable elements” on social media and other platforms about irregularities in reservation are baseless and intended to mislead candidates.Explaining the process, Kumar said the Directorate of Secondary Education compiled vacancy details received from non-govt aided secondary schools across Uttar Pradesh. The vacancies were categorised by school, subject, and reservation category before the requisition was sent to the Commission. He added that non-govt aided secondary schools in the state are treated as “single units,” and the management committee of each school acts as the appointing authority. Because each school is considered an independent unit, reservation is applied at the level of the individual institution, based on the number of sanctioned posts in that particular school. Reservation, he clarified, is not calculated by pooling the total number of posts across the state or at the directorate level.Kumar said the Commission has followed the same legal provisions in the ongoing recruitment under the current advertisement, maintaining integrity, impartiality, and compliance with govt directions. He also pointed to a clarification issued by govt through its official social media handle, “E-Gyan Ganga-U.P.” The UPESSC chief appealed to teacher candidates and the public not to trust unverified claims, and not to share or forward such posts. For verified updates and official information related to the recruitment, Kumar urged candidates to rely only on the Commission’s official website.
