Lucknow: Host Uttar Pradesh bagged 118 medals, including 40 gold, 52 silver, and 26 bronze, to lift the overall championship trophy at the 2nd WMSKF All-India Karate Championship held at Chowk Stadium on Sunday. West Bengal finished second, while Punjab settled for third place with 32 and 14 medals, respectively. UPOA hails govt decision The Uttar Pradesh Olympic Association (UPOA) has expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for approving the recruitment of new officials in the sports department. Under the recent proposal, appointments will be made for 16 sports officers and 84 deputy sports officers. UPOA secretary Anandeshwar Pandey, praised this move, stating that it will not only strengthen the sports infrastructure and training systems in the state but also provide athletes with better career opportunities. Double delight for Ankur Ankur Kapoor clinched twin titles in the UP Monsoon Tennis Cup at Kamlesh Shukla Academy on Sunday. He won the 35+ age-group singles title by defeating Nishant Sinha 6-2 and later teamed up with Aditya Kapoor to win the doubles title, beating Govind Prasad and Abhishek Yadav 7-6. In the 45+ age group, Manish bagged the singles title, while the doubles crown went to the pair of Manish and Amit.
