Lucknow: Ahead of Independence Day, Uttar Pradesh govt has directed schools to hold awareness programmes on the human suffering caused by the 1947 Partition and the sacrifices made during the freedom struggle, while ensuring all content is based on authentic historical facts and remains free from political or communal remarks.In instructions issued to education officials, additional chief secretary for Basic and Secondary Education Partha Sarthi Sen Sharma said schools will observe Vibhajan Vibhishika Smriti Diwas on Aug 14 and celebrate Independence Day on Aug 15 under the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign through a range of educational, cultural and patriotic activities.On Aug 14, schools have been asked to organise seminars, exhibitions, discussions and other programmes focusing on the displacement and hardship faced by millions during Partition. Students will be encouraged to study historical events through credible sources. Schools have also been told to promote participation in a national online quiz competition hosted on the MyGov portal.On Aug 15, institutions will conduct Independence Day events aimed at strengthening unity, integrity, patriotism and democratic values. Schools will organise awareness rallies and prabhat pheris with students and teachers to spread the message of hoisting the national flag at every household. The Tricolour will be unfurled on campuses, followed by the National Anthem and patriotic songs. Debates, essay writing, painting, rangoli, sports and cultural competitions will also be held. Schools will invite local achievers, families of freedom fighters, ex-servicemen and distinguished citizens to address students. Participants will be encouraged to upload selfies with the flag on the Har Ghar Tiranga portal and join digital campaigns.
