Ghaziabad: UP govt has approved the construction of two additional ramps on Hindon Elevated Road, clearing a project for which Ghaziabad Development Authority had sought Rs 112 crore in financial assistance. Under the plan, two 400-metre-long two-lane ramps will be constructed on the Vasundhara and Kanawani sides.Currently, Vasundhara is connected with the stretch on the Rajnagar Extension (RNE) side, but there is no provision at present to connect it from the UP Gate side. On the Kanawani side, vehicles can only connect to the elevated road from RNE side.“We sought an amount of Rs 112 crore for the project, which was approved. With the approval, the tendering process will be initiated and work will start. As per the deadline, the project will be completed by next year,” said an official from the GDA.Commissioned in 2018, the Hindon Elevated Road connects two ends of the city, UP Gate at the Gazipur Border and Rajnagar Extension, reducing the commute from 45 minutes to just 10 minutes. The stretch also connects mid-way to Indirapuram township and Vasundhara township through two ramps.Over time, the elevated road’s utility has grown manifold, as it provides a hassle-free ride by bypassing busy traffic. Though it is connected halfway at Kanawani and Vasundhara through a ramp, connectivity to this stretch needs to be improved for those travelling from these two areas, officials said.
